Our family started in the jewelry industry in Mexico City in 1930.
In 1977 Paul McCartney visited the store and became interested in Alberto's work.
Roberto Ballesteros Rico, one of the oldest brothers, was barely 16 years of age when he began in the business. Roberto had very little silver to work with when he started, but as the years passed and with the family's support, they were able to multiply the amount of silver.
In 1970 Roberto moved to Puerto Vallarta with his family. In what would become a family tradition, Roberto taught his sons, Mario Alberto (Alberto) and Jaime, to work the silver. Mario Alberto established the first ALBERTO´S store, located at Basilio Badillo # 216. Within a short time, ALBERTO´S exclusive designs were well-known among the tourists and the people of Puerto Vallarta.
Alberto had the opportunity to work with many different personalities such as princesses, princes, and movie stars. In 1977 Paul McCartney visited the store and became interested in Alberto's work. McCartney purchased several of Alberto’s exclusive designs and, with the help of Alberto, created other original jewelry designs for himself.
In 1978 Alberto realized it was time to expand the business and decided to move to another location. He chose the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo area. The first store was located in Ixtapa. The second store was opened in downtown Zihua.
